In order to provide the smooth online payment process that we do, we have partnered with both PayPal and GoCardless.
This article will run through how to setup a GoCardless account with ease.
What Do I Do?
To accept Direct Debit payments online through PaySubsOnline, you will need a GoCardless merchant account. Whilst at first glance this may seem a hassle, it is actually quick, free and easy to do.
Before we go any further though, please note that Direct Debit is currently only available to our UK clients (this currently does not include the Channel Islands).
Step 1: when in the PaySubsOnline software, go to ‘Admin’ > ‘Settings’. Next, check the box to receive payments by Direct Debit.
Step 2: then, click on the blue button ‘Create/connect a GoCardless account’ and you will be moved through to GoCardless’ site. Here, you will be asked to enter basic details to create your account.
Step 3: Congratulations! You have now linked your GoCardless account to PaySubsOnline and you will be redirected back to your account. Easy.
Step 4: Shortly, you will receive an email from GoCardless asking you to verify your account. Once you have clicked on the verification link you will be transferred to the GoCardless login page.
Here, you can continue to create your account. Bear in mind that any money you collect will remain in the GoCardless system until your account is verified.
Step 5: On the first screen you will need to select the ‘Standard package’.
Please note – the 1% fee charged by GoCardless is included in our 2.95% charges.
Any online payment made will generate a notification from GoCardless to the payee. If you would like to turn these off, you will need a ‘Pro Package’.
One of the features of this package is that you will be responsible for updating customers and all notifications from GoCardless will be switched off. If you decide to upgrade to a ‘Pro Package’, you will also need to inform us so that we are able to ensure your account works correctly.
Step 6: The next step is to input details about your organisation, so have these details handy. We’ve all been caught off-guard not having information to hand before, so make sure you’re prepared this time!
Step 7: The final part of the process is to make a small deposit to GoCardless so that they can verify the account.
Once you have completed the above steps, you will have successfully created, verified and linked your account to PaySubsOnline!
